RTI reveals AMU pays for electricity bills, no condonation granted by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru ever

In reply to an RTI query filed by Afaq Ahmad, a Research Scholar at Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication a big misconception about free electricity to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh clarified. In his RTI addressed to concerned department Afaq asked "Is it true that the then late Prime Minister of Independent India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru condoned to pay Electricity charges by AMU for 100 years?" If yes, please certified documents in support of the reply. Please mention under which head/category/provision ELECTRICITY charges are being paid by University Administration."

Afaq received a quite stunning reply that no any such condonation had/has been ever exercised or granted by the then late Prime Minister Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as rumour spreads off and on and University has been paying its ELECTRICITY bills since Aligarh Muslim University got accreditation as an University by an act of Parliament till date...!The last Electricity bills paid by the University is Rs. 16,71,84,949.00 for the session 2012-13 & Rs. 2,98,64,449.00 (up to may 2013) for the session 2013-14...
